Bringing bands together for over 80 years!

Your association needs you...

The association is currently looking to recruit some new members on to its committee. For a number of years Pam and Reg Green have worked hard for the association taking on the roles of Contest Secretary and Trophy Officer respectively. Due to increased commitments and involvement in a local charity, Pam and Reg have stepped down from these positions. We are lucky to have appointed Mr Malcolm Pounder as our new trophy officer, but are always on the lookout for new committee members either playing in or supporting our member bands.

If you would be interested in joining the LBBA committee and assisting us in running the events for your band and your associationhen please get in touch.

The association is run by bandspeople for its member bands. We try to run our events in line with the requirements of our member bands and you can help us achieve this.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Can my Band join the LBBA?

Any brass band is welcome to join our association - you do not even have to be from Leicestershire! A number of bands from outside the county are members and take part in our association events. If you would like your own band to join, contact Secretary Lesley Bentley on lesley@lbba.org.uk for more information.

See who are member bands are and visit their websites here.

Are we the oldest association in the UK?

Rumour has it....well, our President Betty informs us that the Leicestershire Brass Band Association was possibly the first ever Brass Band Association that was formed in the UK. Founded in approximately 1926 by Charles Moore (founder of Wigston, Kibworth and Fleckney bands) and Hedley Batchelor (of Fleckney Band).

If you know any different or have any further information, we'd love to hear from you. You can email president@lbba.org.uk with any further information.

Update: News has come in that SCABA was formed in 1893, making it a few decades older... are there any more band associations out there even older than that??
